About the Project
We recently had the opportunity to visit a project in Seebach, Zurich, that the Hochwert Library was able to supply last year. It is always special to see a project in its finished state – especially when the choice of material plays such a defining role in the architectural expression.
The areas designed by Dachtler Partner Architekten and installed by Hänni AG were realised in the public zones with Andeer Gneiss in a brushed finish. From the floor surfaces to the staircases, the natural stone creates a calm yet high-quality overall effect. The fine green tones provide a balanced, harmonious atmosphere, while the brushed surface subtly highlights the natural structure of the stone.
Andeer Gneiss is quarried in the village of Andeer, at the foot of the San Bernardino Pass, and is one of the best-known natural stones in Switzerland. Thanks to its robustness and frost resistance, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, especially for high-traffic areas such as entrances and stairwells. It can also be used for kitchen worktops, fireplaces or washbasins, which underlines its versatility.
In recent years, green tones have become increasingly important in architecture and interior design. In this context, Andeer Gneiss is experiencing a strong renaissance. This project shows impressively how a traditional material can be used in a contemporary way, creating spaces that feel both timeless and current.
