Calacatta und Carrara stammen aus den Apuanischen Alpen, oberhalb der Stadt Carrara. Seit der Antike wird hier Marmor abgebaut. Der älteste Steinbruch geht auf das Jahr 0 zurück und steht unter einer Art Denkmaschutz. Den Steinbruch zu betreten ist strengstens verboten.

Aus diesen Steinbrüchen stammen nicht nur moderne Materialien – sie lieferten das Material für Statuen, Tempel, Weltkultur. Heute stehen wir hier, um diese Geschichte weiterzuerzählen.

Unterschiedliche Wirkung, gleicher Ursprung

Auch wenn sie manchmal verwechselt werden: Carrara und Calacatta sind klar unterscheidbar.
